ASGAR & GABRIEL
Daryoush Asgar was born in Tehran, Iran in 1975. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (1996-2000). In 2002 he won the Austrian Strabag Art Award.
Elisabeth Gabriel was born in Vienna, Austria in 1975. She studied piano at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (1988-90). She also studied Philosophy and Literature at the University of Vienna (1994-2000). After her graduation she worked for theatres in Vienna, Berlin and Bern (Switzerland).
Asgar and Gabriel began their relationship musically in the 1990s. In 2002, they moved to Berlin where they started their painting collaboration. Their first collaborative painting Entering Barbarians was exhibited in Vienna in 2005. They have exhibited in Vienna and New York. They live and work in Vienna.
