Narrative affinities between literature and cinema in scriptwriting. 28 January – 18 March 2010 Thursdays 17.30 – 19.30 Lecturer: Fotos Lamprinos, cinematographer. Scriptwriting workshop. The relation between literature and cinema is not limited by the onscreen adaptation of literature. On the contrary: The adaptation destroys the relation. This relation, and its use as a tool in scriptwriting will be examined during the workshop, from the original idea to film. The narrative affinities between the two arts will be reviewed with extensive case studies of classical literature, written long before the invention of cinema, which strangely enough, indicate narrative similarities. Selected screenings will accompany the workshop material. Exercises and case studies will be based on excerpts of classical European literature. Certification of attendance will be issued after the completion of the workshop. Total Fees: 200 euros. Applications and more information at the Museum's reception: 210 3234678, 210 3316027 e-mail: info@frissirasmuseum.com
